Our Story
Passion from personal experience
As a mother of three boys, I know first hand the joys and challenges of parenting. With my firstborn, I struggled with breastfeeding due to tongue and lip ties, which went unnoticed by the hospital. While I had been working as a pediatric physical therapist for many years at that time these were new diagnoses to me and I did not fully appreciate the impact of these conditions on all aspects of growth and development.
My second son also faced challenges with plagiocephaly and torticollis, which required PT and feeding therapy. He also needed his adenoids removed due to night wakings and snoring, and we are currently working with an airway dentist to address his palate. It was during this time that I became committed to learning more about advanced and evidence-based therapies aimed at addressing these issues.
By the time my third son was born, I finally felt prepared to be proactive about his tongue tie and related development issues having completed several professional training programs specifically related to tethered oral tissues (TOTs), torticollis and oral motor interventions. Unfortunately, he spent much of his early life fighting off respiratory illnesses brought home from day care by his big brothers. These illnesses led to challenges in consistency of therapy and difficulty in scheduling his procedures.
I like to share these personal challenges with patients so that you know that I understand how challenging this whole process can be. I am committed to sharing the experiences from my personal journey with you and helping you find a community of support so that you can feel comfortable and confident in your own unique journey with your child.
